Held every November, the Dora Awuah Foundation’s Annual Music Festival transforms into a vibrant safe space where children from orphanages across Accra come together to connect, celebrate, and heal through the power of music.

At the festival, young people showcase their dance skills, enjoy live performances, and build friendships with peers who share similar life experiences. The broad objective is simple yet profound: to foster meaningful interaction, strengthen social bonds, and reduce stress through creative expression.

Since its launch in 2022, the Foundation has successfully hosted three editions of the festival, each one growing in attendance and impact. The Founder, Dr. Dora Awuah—herself a musician—takes the stage each year to perform alongside renowned Ghanaian choral groups such as Joyful Way Incorporated, using her voice to inspire courage and hope in the hearts of the youth.

Beyond its emotional and social benefits, the Music Festival serves a critical practical purpose: it is a key fundraising event for the Foundation. Proceeds generated from ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations directly support the Foundation’s annual budget, ensuring that mental health programmes, outreach activities, and crisis interventions continue to reach vulnerable adolescents year-round.
